0800 service numbers are reachable from all German landline connections and from mobile phones on all German mobile networks. The numbers are not reachable from abroad.
Who can apply for a 0800 number?
Anyone — whether a private individual or a company — can apply for a 0800 service number. If the residential or business address is abroad, a German authorised representative must be specified during the application, to whom the allocation notice can be sent.
Where and how do I apply for a 0800 number?
A 0800 service number is applied for at the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA). You can obtain the application form from Corazon or directly on the BNetzA website at www.bundesnetzagentur.de.

From the receipt of a fully completed application with all required documentation, the allocation typically takes 8–10 business days. The allocation notice is delivered by post.

Setting up the number, including activation on the landline network and all mobile networks, normally takes 3 to 5 business days.
How much does it cost for the provider?
The costs for the provider depend on the agreement with the respective network operator or provider where the number is hosted. Calls from landlines and mobile phones are priced differently. Additionally, the routing destination matters (landline or mobile number, via VoIP, domestic or international).
How is the provider billed?
Billing for 0800 numbers is done monthly for the preceding billing period, via invoice.
How are calls forwarded to me?
The 0800 number is set up by the network operator and routed to your chosen destination. The destination can be a landline or mobile number. Routing via VoIP is also possible.
