0900 Service Numbers FAQ
What is 0900?
0900 numbers are primarily used for premium-rate telephone services. These are paid services that are billed directly through the caller’s phone bill when they call.
What is a service number?
A service number refers to phone numbers designated for specific service areas or services. Other well-known service numbers include 0800, 0180, and 0137 numbers.
Who can apply for a 0900 number?
In principle, any self-employed individual or company can apply for a 0900 number. If the residential or business address is abroad, a German authorised representative must be specified during the application, to whom the allocation notice can be sent.
Where and how do I apply for a 0900 number?
A 0900 service number is applied for at the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA). You can obtain the application form from Corazon or directly on the BNetzA website at www.bundesnetzagentur.de.
What do the digits 0 to 8 after 0900 mean?
These digits indicate the rate identifier of the 0900 number. They determine the price a caller pays per minute. There are 9 fixed ranges from €0.49/min up to €2.99/min.
How long does the BNetzA allocation take?
From the receipt of a fully completed application with all required documentation, the allocation typically takes 8–10 business days. The allocation notice is delivered by post.
How long does the setup at Corazon take?
Setting up the number, including activation on the landline network and all mobile networks, normally takes two to three business days.
What is the correct rate disclosure?
Whenever the 0900 number is advertised in any way (whether verbally or in writing), the rate must be stated in direct connection with the number. The price must always be given in euros per minute. Abbreviations are acceptable, e.g. €0.99/min.
How much is the payout for the provider?
The payout amount depends on the respective rate range (0 to 8) and is agreed individually with Corazon.
Where does the difference between end-customer rate and payout come from?
First, the statutory VAT is deducted from the end-customer rate. In addition, network, routing, and billing costs are subtracted. The largest cost component comes from chargebacks and receivables management. This is already factored into the guaranteed payout.
When do I receive my statement and payout as a provider?
Typically, billing for 0900 numbers is issued approximately two to three weeks after the end of the month. The payout is made 6 weeks after the end of the billing month.
How are calls forwarded to me?
The 0900 number is set up by the network operator and routed to your chosen destination. The destination can be a landline or mobile number. Routing via VoIP is also possible.
What does the free call queue regulation mean?
The legislator has clearly regulated call costs in the Telecommunications Act (TKG). Call queues for 0900 numbers may only run if they are free of charge for the caller.
Where do the rate announcements come from?
Regardless of which rate range you use, the appropriate legally required rate announcement is played for the caller free of charge at the network level. You don’t need to worry about this — the network operator handles it.
When are calls disconnected?
After 60 minutes, the call is automatically disconnected by the network operator.
