Local Service Numbers

Geo numbers are not only ideal for regional offers, they can also be used nationwide and are reachable internationally. They look like standard local landline numbers and are the simplest, most cost-effective way to benefit from all the advantages of a classic service number.

If you do not want to signal a local area connection, or if your company does not have a registered office within the relevant area code, you can alternatively set up a non-location-based number using the 032 range.

Getting Your Own Local Service Number Is Simple

If you would like to use a geo number, the process is straightforward:

Once we receive your enquiry, we will need the following information in order to prepare your quote:

  • What service would you like to offer under the local number?
  • Which local area code should the number use?
  • Can you provide proof of local presence for that area?
  • Where should calls be routed?
  • What monthly call volume do you expect?
  • Do you need any additional features or web tools?

For simplicity, these points are usually discussed by phone after we receive your enquiry, so any open questions can be clarified directly. Of course, you can also provide the information in the message field of the quote request form.

Once all points listed above have been clarified, we will send you a quote. After that, you can place your order for the number directly.

The following documents and details are required:

  • A signed copy of the full quotation, scanned in its entirety
  • A fully completed customer master data form
  • A commercial register extract, for partnerships or corporations
  • For sole proprietorships, a business registration, chamber registration, or merchant registration, plus a valid ID card or passport, front and back scanned, not photographed
  • Your VAT identification number
  • The destination number or a routing plan

Geo Service Numbers FAQ

Geo numbers, also called local service numbers, are service numbers that look like standard local landline telephone numbers. In the network, however, they are configured virtually and routed to an actual destination number. This allows you to use all the functions and advantages of a service number. To use a geo number, the provider must have a local connection to the relevant area.

032 numbers are geo-style numbers that are not assigned to any specific local area network. In Germany, there is no geographic area code 032, which means these numbers can be used without proof of local presence.

It means that you can only receive geo numbers from the area code region in which your home address or business location is based. Secondary residences, branches, or satellite offices are also possible. This local connection must be proven with suitable documentation, such as an ID document, commercial register extract, chamber registration, or business registration.

These numbers can be reached worldwide from all landline and mobile networks. Outside Germany, they must be dialled with 0049 and without the following zero. This makes them the service numbers with the widest reach.

The number is provided directly by the network operator. You do not need to arrange this yourself.

For geo numbers from area codes that are already available in the number pool, setup usually takes only two to four working days. The number pool covers all major cities and towns. For smaller area code regions, the number block first has to be ordered from the Federal Network Agency, which usually takes around eight to ten weeks. Temporary alternative numbers can be activated in the meantime.

The cost of calling a local number depends on where the call is made from, whether landline or mobile, and on the caller’s contract with their network operator. With flat-rate tariffs, calls to geo numbers and 032 numbers are generally free of charge.

The provider’s costs depend on the agreement with the relevant network operator or service provider through which the number is activated. Connection charges consist of origination and termination. The origination charge is the same regardless of whether the call comes from a landline or mobile network. The termination charge depends on where the number is routed, for example to a landline or mobile destination, domestic or international, or via VoIP routing.

Connection charges and any additional fees are billed monthly, always for the previous billing period.

The geo number is configured directly by the network operator and routed to the destination you specify. This destination can be a landline number, a mobile number, or a VoIP endpoint.
