Like Germany, the telecommunications industry in Switzerland is subject to specific rules, set out in the Telecommunications Act (FMG). That act has now been revised. One of the new provisions, in force from 1 January 2021, requires a registered company domicile in Switzerland in order to operate Swiss premium-rate numbers (0900/0901/0906).
From 1 January 2021, therefore, every holder of premium-rate numbers based outside Switzerland has six months (until 30 June 2021) to establish an official company domicile in Switzerland and meet this new requirement.
Alternatively, you have the option of transferring your premium-rate number to a Swiss company via OFCOM by 1 July 2021 at the latest. Think carefully about which company you transfer the number to, because that company becomes the owner of your number and therefore also has full control over it.
